THIS POST IS BORROWED FROM HIS SON'S BLOG http://dirtynthebeest.com/ GO THERE AND PAY RESPECTS
This is hard. I wanna thank everyone who has called, e-mailed or texted me in the last day. It means a great deal to me and my family. So many things are going on in my head right now it’s kind of hard to think. I wanna write though. I know this will help me. This is gonna be kinda jumbled. I’m sad, I’m angry, I’m happy all at once right now. I have so many memories of being my fathers son. Little things that make all the difference. Things that help me maintain right now. I can’t be too sad though. My father did great, great things as a Musician, Humanitarian, a Father and a Black man. I’m so happy he touched and inspired so many people in a positive way. I am more proud of my father than anyone could know. I’m so messed up right now that he’s gone too soon for me but his life was a good one. He lived! Traveled the world. Followed his dreams and was extremely blessed and successful. I will no longer take another second for granted in my life and work towards all my goals with renewed drive and purpose. I do it for my dad. I do it for me. This blog included. Hug the ones you love right now. I didnt get to hug my father before he passed. Let go of silly things that have you at odds with the ones you love. Life is short. Live.

Chali 2na, the baritone leader of Jurrasic 5, is well known for creating a remarkably genuine feel to his music. Jurassic 5 is probably the most well known underground group in the whole music industry. And Chali might be better known than any of his groupmates, primarily for his own unique sound... his baritone voice is so unique that it can't be recreated. I was honestly looking forward for this album because Jurassic 5 doesen't fuck with any lame cats, and this album was no dissapointment... collabs feature: Laidlaw, Supernatural, Mark 7, Akil, Roots Manuva, Swollen Members, Kardinal Offishal, Don Coleon, and many Jurassic 5 groupmates.
The Good:
Track #2- Welcome To The Fish Market- And what a welcome it is, you don't need to listen to it for too long before you put it in your favorite tracks playlist. Although the last verse is weak. But let's not be picky :)
Track #3- Work It Out- Ironically this seems like a 9th Wonder job that Pooh would spit over... but this track goes just as hard... amazing.
Track #4- Full Contact- This song is ok, still decent, but Wildchild is weak like usual... when is Prevail gonna get rid of him...not Chali's problem.
Track #6- Join The Dots- Definitely a different vibe, probably because it fits Roots Manuva more... but it's pretty good. Chali still rips shit up
Track #12- Lingustics (DJ Dez Remix)- Chali combines with J5 and makes a great song.
Track#14- Sweet Science- And Rasco brings it back... this song is similar to the beginning of the mixtape... it might be the best off the album.
And we're done. This is a great mixtape overall... Chali proves he can survive without his J5 boys... but is way too kind and it seems like he gives pretty much anyone who asks a collab. Ang 13 can't spit to save her life, the Roots Manuva collabs are also weak, and don't even let me mention the Linnkin Park track.
0-20: Terrible listening experience
21-40: Maybe one good song
41-60: A few good songs
61-80: Half are good songs, half are weak
81-100: Great listening experience, almost all are great songs
I'd give this album a higher rating, but the last 2/3 of the album is not even comparable to the beginning... so it comes out to a 67.
I'd still download it... a lot of unique music, and maybe you'll enjoy the whole album... everyone has different tastes..

Chino XL and raw go hand in hand. This man can rhyme for days, and is very eerily similar to Canibus. People say Em stole this guy's style... that's not true. Eminem never sounds as boring as Chino does... but Eminem will never rival the Chino track "Beastin" with Killah Priest (not on this album). Chino is what you would call a formerly underground raw lyricist, he has a strong flow, a commanding voice, but terrible beats (at times). Canibus or Ras Kass anybody? This is his first album... made in 96. (damn.. it's been a while) Chino also has too many pop culture references for my liking, almost every other line he's comparing his rhymes to a famous celebrity's drug addiction. But when this man gets on the mic determined he is nearly unrivaled.
The Good:
Track # 3: No Complex- This track is very average from the outside, but the lyrics are impressive.
Track # 5- It's All Bad- This song is really good. Actually some storytelling, and Chino actually lets you into his mind. The hook is weak as fuck though.
Track # 7- Riiiot- This song is probably the most lyrical so far, and the beat finally matches... Ras Kass just murders this track.
Track # 8- Waiting To Exhale- Sounds more like a Wu track, Chino might spit a few lines, but Gravitation just kills this song. One of the best so far.
Track # 9- What Am I- Another great story telling track. One of my favorites so far.
Track # 11- Thousands- Illmatic meets Eminem meets Wu Tang (C.R.E.A.M.) at their bests.
Track # 12- Kreep- Another amazing song... the flow is sick, he doesen't stop spitting fire till the end. The chorus is something else too.
Track # 15- Ghetto Vampire- It's a pretty lame idea, but I like the beat change, and chino goes hard on this track.
Track # 16- Rise- It's a really really good song... but there's two minutes after the songs ends.
0-20: Terrible listening experience
21-40: Maybe one good song
41-60: A few good songs
61-80: Half are good songs, half are weak
81-100: Great listening experience, almost all are great songs
I give this album a rating of 83, it isn't for everyone... but Chino definitely delivers on this album. At first you might be dissapointed, but this shit will grow on you like fucking fungus (I swear)... so give it a chance... I did and I'm very glad.

If your into Dipset at all, you know all about 40 Cal, possibly the most talented member of the supergroup. While G-Unit has wasted their time beefing with Game, Joey Crack, Jadakiss, and many others.... Dipset has been quietly becoming the new G-Unit. Along with founding members Jim Jones and Killa Cam, they have found new young talent. 40 Cal, J.R. Writer, Hell Rell and S.A.S. are all examples. Keep your eyes peeled on Dipset, cuz they doin and doin it well. Back to 40, this dude made his name on the battle circuit and now is making his name with the mixtapes and the albums (he just finished up his 4th album). 40 takes his title as a battler and translates it into punchline after punchline, which is amazing at first, but gets repetitive and boring for too long. But 40, unlike Lloyd Banks, can make songs enjoyable. That being said, I enjoyed this album the most.
The Good:
Track # 1- 40 Cals- No intro, and he goes hard the whole fucking way. This song is amazing.
Track # 8- Since You Been Away- This track is real hot... finally some storytelling instead of boasting. Sick ass beat too.
Track # 9- Gettin By- This track is mad crazy. Easily the best off the album, the production job is just sick and 40 just blazes.
Track # 11- Give Me Some Head- It's hard to call this track good but the lines are crazy, even though the chorus is weak.
Track # 12- Close Ur Eyes- This track is soothing, even though it's not great, it's easy to bob your head to.
Track # 17- Chickens In Da Coupe- This track is pretty good, no clue why it was a bonus. But I'd check it.
0-20: Terrible listening experience
21-40: Maybe one good song
41-60: A few good songs
61-80: Half are good songs, half are weak
81-100: Great listening experience, almost all are great songs
I give this album a 75. I'd download it:

Big Pooh, 1/2 of the influential Carolina based group Little Brother has been in the industry for quite a while. If nothing else... I believe everyone can appreciate the contribution this man has made to the state of alternative hip-hop. Check out Justus League, clearly one of the best indie labels in any genre of music. They sign artists with talent regardless of their potential to sell records... which is something you just don't see anymore. What big label would refuse Lil Wayne or Eminem to sign with them? Another thing to add is that indie labels are created to give hip hop fans the opportunity to experience all types of different types of music. Big Pooh and most of his affiliates are known for their introspective lyrics and production values from mega producer 9th Wonder. Big Pooh's style reminds me of early Kanye West combined with the raw lyrics of MURS who coincidentally is the only non-Justus League collab on this album. Of course, when your "conscious" or "alternative" it usually means you pick alternative subject matters from mainstream or underground artists. That's partly why I've never delved into this genre...there's a very large amount of lighthearted narcissism and songs for the ladies on these albums. Then again 9th Wonder makes everything sound good, he's the go-to guy when your looking for that Kanye sound...without the Kanye production cost. But let's delve into the album...

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Illmatic, is the start of today's hip-hop. When people have "flow" these days, very few people do, I guess it's not necessary anymore, look at lil wayne, they are compared to NaS, because of the phenom that is named Illmatic. Proof to Illmatic's greatness is people's meteoric expectations, when an album like Stillmatic still doesn't compare. The beats on this album are amazing, but not overproduced at all, simple enough to not sound like most of today's bullshit, yet Nasir' stories sound remarkably genuine on the beats. The final testimony to this album's greatness is when Jay-Z sampled Nas' vocal from "The World Is Yours", and this almost singlehandedly began a beef. That's how great this album is, that Nas believed someone sampling one of his songs, was tampering with the album's legendary status. Now enough hyping Nas and let's get started.
1. The genesis- first track is a dumb ass intro, typical start.
2. NY State Of Mind- DJ Premier does an amazing job on this beat, I read somewhere that MC Serch once said that Primo and Nas were like brothers how they fit each other. Nas does an immaculate job rhyming on this song, not one line that wasn't perfect, and I love the hook on this song. This is an amazing introduction to the album, it's almost impossible to tire of this song.
3. Life's A Bitch- Nas does it again, this song with it's jazzy elements has an great beat, and the lines are legendary. AZ almost keeps up with Nas' near immaculate lines. This song is a hip hop classic, and for good reason. This song has been referenced thousands of time. The best part of the whole track is Nas' father ending this classic track.
4. The World Is Yours- Uncomparable, Pete Rock creates one of the best instrumentals of all time. Nas' lines are impeccable, not one line that is weak. His flow is amazing, and this song has instant repeatable potential. I've heard it 4 times in a row, and i haven't even begun to tire of it. Barely edges out track 2 for the best track on this album.
5. Halftime- Now if this song was on anyone else's album, it would be the stand-out track. But the instrumental just seems out of place to me, everyone who blogs about this track always stays on Large Professor's dick, but his beat doesen't do justice to Nas' amazing rhymes on this track. A sad example that you can have the best rhymes, but can't do shit without the beats.
6. Memory Lane- The beginning of this track is legendary, and for good reason, can anyone top these lyrics:
I rap for listeners, blunt heads, fly ladies and prisoners
Hennessy holders and old school niggas, then I be dissin a
Unofficial that smoke woolie thai
I dropped out of Cooley High, gassed up by a cokehead cutie pie
Jungle survivor, fuck who's the liver
My man put the battery in my back, a difference from Energizer
Sentence begins indented, with formality
My duration's infinite, money-wise or physiology
Poetry, that's a part of me, retardedly bop
I drop the ancient manifested hip-hop, straight off the block
I reminisce on park jams, my man was shot for his sheep coat
Childhood lesson made me see him drop in my weed smoke
For my money that may be the best verse I've ever heard/read. And not enough can be said about DJ Premier's production job on this song, the sampling, the turntabling, is just simply put perfect.
7. One Love- Figures Q-Tip produced this song, I never liked his beats, personally his weak ass beat ruins Nas' heartfelt lyrics, and his vocals maybe even worse than the beat. The one song on this album that is actually garbage. Find the remix and enjoy Nas' lyrics over a real beat, and even Q-Tip's vocal sounds alright.
8. One Time 4 Your Mind- And we get back to Illmatic, the classic album, (if you can't tell, Q-Tip is not a person I have respect for, but that's a story for a different time). This track is Large Professor at his best, a very slow beat, which Nas destroys, again coming with some crazy lines, and the hook is "phat" as they say 10 times to many on this track.
9. Represent- Goddamn Premier has done it again, Nas' rhymes are infinitely close to godliness on this song, maybe his best performance on the album. And Premier, well let's just say you could have this track on repeat for the whole day, and still get goosebumps when Nas rips shit up.
10. It Ain't Hard To Tell- The first time I heard it, I was expecting another Premier track to finish off this classic album, but this "critically acclaimed" track leaves something to be desired. I don't hate this track, but definitely not a song that belongs on Illmatic. This track is way to pretty to be played after DJ Premier, but maybe I just need time for the beat to grow on me. Large Professor's blunder does not stop Nas' on this track as he just annihilates this song, can't really hope for more when it comes to lyrics.
When it comes to being a classic album, Illmatic cannot be classifed as just classic, because it may be the best album in the genre of hip-hop or rap. Maybe even the best album when it comes to music..... or maybe that's going too far. At worst Nas' album would be in the top 5 when it comes to the best rap albums of all time. This was the first album I ever heard from NaS, and as you can tell had me very excited about his future albums, where he never came close to repeating the magic he had on this album, but that's probably why it's a classic. When it comes to advice about the acquistion of this album, I would have to tell anyone to buy this album, if not to acquire it by any means necessary, it's that fucking goooood. And while your downloading it listen to The World Is Yours, and thank Olu Dara for giving birth to this man who just may be God's Son.

Now why would I review 50 Cent after reviewing Illmatic? For one, I want to disspell that 50 Cent was ever a good rapper, I hope we all can agree that 50 is now on Vanilla Ice and Shaquille O Neal's level. But back in 2003 people thought 50 Cent was the new Dre, the new Eminem, the new NWA, and half of the people in this country were riding 50's dick so hard that they could not realize when this snake was fucking them. Now, you cannot imagine how happy I was when Kanye heavily outsold Curtis, no more 50 can only be a good thing, now if only we could get rid of lil wayne..., but that's a different story. This album was the introduction to the 9 shot wonder, who was sooo clever by having a bulletshot as his coverart. This piece of shit sold 12 million copies, why because 50 is Omarosa on steroids. After running The Game, who sold almost as well as 50, out of G-Unit, his well thought out name for the group mainly consisting of Young Buck, a garbage ass southern rapper, and Lloyd Banks, a Guru wannabe with his monotone voice. When this album was released all the tracks were "classics", which is a comical statement. But don't let me bully you into a opinion.
1. Intro- Just delete/skip this.
2. What Up Gangsta- The first thing I noticed is the throbbing bass, and 50's horrible gun imatation, and his fake-ass M.O.P. impersonation. Pretty pathetic considering how fake M.O.P. is. Not a bad beat, and the lyrics are pretty good considering it's Curtis, but the hook ruins the song, not a song any self-respecting person could sing along to.
3. Patiently Waiting- It's very obvious that Eminem produced this song, because the beat is so simple, 50's rhymes remind me of how a neanderthal might rhyme. He says almost nothing of value, but at least he improves upon the last tracks pathetic hook. Eminem's verse is typical of everything he's released since 2004. How Eminem tries to promote 50's "gangstaness" is very saddening, and the hook "It's 50!" Wow, forget what I said about the hook being better. And the Snoop Dogg reference is so weak, how the worst artist from the east could blunder the words of the worst rapper from the west is beyond me.
4. Many Men- I can see this being a classic track, I'll bury my hatchet with 50 Cent because of this song, because I .. think I can say that this is actually a half way decent hook. The beat by Darrell Branch is the best off the album, and 50 comes with some of his best lines off the album, even though he tries to bullshit the listeners with some of his dumb ass philosphy. Everyone hail,50crates. Get it? Get it? Get it!?!?!?!? Like Socrates, but 50crates, get it get it ????
5. In Da Club- I wonder was this the single? Maybe? Not that I can picture this playing in a club or anything. Definitely a Dr. Dre beat, which is surprisingly weak, although the piano over the beat improves the instrumental a bit. Now when it comes to 50's lines, there is definitely something left to be desired, the hook is just horrid, why people like this song is beyond me. I truly believe that if this song can suceed than Mickey Avalon's "My Dick" will succeed soon too. My favorite part of this song is when 50 tells the haters to "pop off" and if they want to find him, they'll find him in the club. Where else would you expect to find the Teflon Don?
6. High All The Time- A decent beat, decent hook, horrible lyrics. So, this seems like a typical 50 cent song, so what makes this song different? That 50 says "I smoke that good shit", but as this condescending fuckhead has admitted he doesen't smoke and doesen't even drink. Huh? So void anything positive I could have said about 50 Jackson. But my favorite part of this song is when 50 promises to take both Jigga and Nas's place as the king of New York. The sad part of that line is it almost came true. Even if you don't like The Game, you have to thank him for not letting that happen.
7. Heat- Dr. Dre does an ok job on this track, although the beat is way too simple, the piano sample does very little for the track. All the gun shots sound about as good as listening to 50 rhyme. This is a typical track for this album. Punk ass hook, average lyrics. Nothing special at all.
8. If I Can't- Dr.Dre provides something halfway decent, 50 gives another average hook, gives us some more poor lyrics, but this time they actually sound alright because he's rhyming over a good beat. This might be a track you would want to listen to after the first time. But trust me 50, if you can't do something, there are 6 billion people capable of doing a better job than you. Listen to the chorus if your confused.
9. Blood Hound- What do you get when you combine a downright horrible beat, a fake ass dog bark, horrible hook and 50's meaningless lyrics, and Young Buck's sorry ass excuse for rhyming? You get blood hound. I'm only half kidding when I say that I expected DMX to beat the fuck out of 50 and buck for this track. NEVER EVER EVER Listen to this song. Trust Me! You will regret it. Sean Blaze retire....please
10. Back Down- Now this song got buzz like crazy, but I don't understand it. Dr. Dre made another horrible beat, 50 sounds even more boring than usual on this track. Maybe 50 didn't think about this, but here's an idea, if your gonna diss hip hop veterans on your first album, maybe you should create a good song. But it's probably just me.
11. P.I.M.P. - You've heard this song, and said why do I like this song, that's simple you DON'T like it because of 50, but rather because of Mr. Porter's superb production job, he actually created a good yet very simple beat. 50's lines sound even more material than usual, which is really saying something. Another weak ass hook to add, again 50 is trying to bite Snoop's weak ass style. Again he doesen't succeed. The video does look good though, the uncensored one that is.
12. Like My Style- Who the fuck is Rockwilder? A garbage ass producer, who gives 50 a horrible beat, and 50 provides his worst lines off the album, and seems to be muttering because the beat distorts his voice. Tony Yayo gives us another sparkling performance on the hook.
13. Poor Lil Rich- Two horrible songs in a row, the beat is downright terrible again, sounds like a 2 a.m. club dance mix. The hook is just horrible, 50 trying to reach a falsetto...that's ...not...gay at all. His lines are very material just how I like them. Avoid this song like the plague the same goes for the song above.
14. 21 Questions- Whoever Midi Mafia is he outdid himself on this track, the beat is incredibly simple, yet it has a great jazz/guitar feel that is extremely soothing. Nate Dogg's hook is infinitely times many better than Curtis'. Seeing as how Mr. Mafia and Mr. Dogg outdid themselves on this song, you might expect Curtis to step his game up even just a little bit. But no, his lines are still just as horrible as they were before. He asks you the dumbest questions, his steroid diminished mind could muster. "Could you love me on a bentley" "Could you love me on a bus" "Would you love me if i smelled bad". Poor Vivica Fox.
15. Don't Push Me- Another poorly made Eminem track, his tracks are so easily identified, it is always a terribly simply beat with some piano samples with a threatening hook like "Don't Push Me". Terrible hook again, the beat isn't so bad, but I resent Eminem for the gunshots in the background during 50's punk ass threats playing. His lines are again the same garbage that he's realized since 2004. In this song he tries to create a track that rivals "Who I Am" but fails miserably.
16. Gotta Make It To Heaven- Definitely not a beat a self-respecting rap artist would rap over, but it is 50 cent, I'm surprised Beyonce or Rihanna doesen't do the hook here, but 50's harder than that. His lines are downright horrible again. Don't waste your time with this song.
17. Wanksta- This bonus track launched 50 into infamy, with the painful burn "Your not a gangsta, your a wanksta!" This track is horrible. Trust me again. You will thank me later.
Overall this CD is horrible, I am amazed this trash sells, but 12 million tracks, wow Curtis hit the jackpot. Now I'm going to go after Curtis the person, not the rapper. I don't know how this guy still tries to pretend to be a gangster, Game murdered this bitch, Cam'ron killed this bitch, even Fat Joe annihilated this dude. Cam'ron called 50 Curtis as an insult, and 50 thinking he was a clever businessman decided to call his album Curtis. Mr. Jackson seems to be the person in your school who always though people were laughing with him, while everyone was laughing with a finger pointed straight in his face. G-G-G-G-UNOT!!! That goes for tony yayo, lloyd banks and young buck too.

Who better to review after 50 than his fellow 9/11 dropee Kanye West? This is a young man who has received almost uncountable accolades for being outspoken yet extremely hard-working. I will respect anyone who has Kanye's work ethic, but the new hip-hop fans, obsessed with the brand new Nikes, fly clothes, rims, and living the good life like Mr. West, need to understand that this album is by no means a classic. When I bought this album a year ago, I was expecting crazy beats and some good lines. But the main reason I bought this album is to run 50 cent out of the business, although I did not believe he would hold out on his side of the deal, so I guess I give him props for holding to his word. No one who bought this album on it's well planned drop date, can say they bought this album without any clue of what to expect, "Stronger" got countless plays, and "Can't Tell Me Nothing" became the anthem for loud black girls who say what they want to and believe they have the right to be as ignorant as they want. It was the "jam" for anyone not affiliated in crime, who still believed they had haters. There were few collabs on this album that I was expecting, although I believed it was just a short time until Kanye worked with Mos Def, and the Coldplay collab was extremely overhyped, the Lil Wayne collab definitely was to be expected to, how was the world's most outspoken rapper expected not to combine with Mr. Promythazine. But I have to admit that the collab I was excited about was DJ Premier producing one of Kanye's songs. If you read the Illmatic review, you'll know that Primo is one of my all time favorites. Enough hype, let's see how it all unfolded.
1. Good Morning- No intro, wow maybe Kanye has went too far, I knew he was cocky, but....no intro? This song has a very unique beat, The Elton John sample makes the beat, and the hook serves it's purpose with a simple "Good Morning". You can also tell this is a concept album with the good morning and good night concept. The lines on this track start off amazingly bad, but the 2nd and 3rd verses are much better.
2. Champion- another good beat, but I can't help but wondering about what Kanye's going to rhyme about in a few years. The hook makes no sense, I assume he's talking about clothes, and his lines emphasize materialism with a passion, and how he was poor... but was rich? Fooled me too. I don't understand how he first says "My daddy say when you see clothes, close your eyelids" but later he says "I don't know what he did for dough(his dad), but he'd send me to school with a new wardrobe". Those sound like contradicting statements to me, but maybe someone can clarify that to me.
3. Stronger- Because Kanye is sooooooo creative, he jumped into the underground techno/house music scene and found Daft Punk, I wish I was that creative. Alas, with his shitty musical rendition of an old age saying "What doesen't kill you only makes you stronger", Kanye seemed to appeal to all the poor teenage girls who now tell their girlfriends "Alyssa what doesen't kill you only makes you stronger". Overall this song might work as a club track, definitely not a banger. The ironic thing about this song is how Kanye tries to rip on the music industry, yet creates an insanely radio friendly song. But you'd never sell out would you Mr. West?
4. I Wonder- Now here's an great instrumental, the jazz and string aspects of the song make it stand out, and the vocal sample is also excellent. But Mr. West ruins this song by again creating lyrics that are radio friendly. The last verse is actually not so bad, but to hear it you have to listen to the first verse which is just awkward as fuck and horrendous, and the end just disgusts me, is this the same guy who made "Jesus Walks" and "Spaceship"? I hope his rhyming gets better.
5. Good Life- Another example of a club/radio friendly single, which is obvious because t-pain is on the song. Kanye could have once again achieved a world better when it comes to lyrics, but once again sells out to sell albums. The 50 Cent reference made me sick. Once again, Kanye does his best at the very end, but you have to hear a heap of bullshit to get to his good lines.
6. Can't Tell Me Nothing- For some reason people were very entertained by Kanye's first line on this song, I was too, but for completely different reasons, there is insane symbolism in this line: "I had a dream I could buy my way to heaven, when I awoke I spent that on a necklace". I doubt that Mr. West is the only rapper who lives his life on such impulses, there's another one who gives us his "signature" haha and yeah on this track, without spitting at all. Kanye once again created a radio friendly song in which he emphasizes that the fans who supported him from the beginning and only want the old mr.west back, "can't tell him nothin". Thanks, Kanye.
7. Barry Bonds- I was very curious as to what this track was about when I checked the tracklisting. Then I saw Lil Wayne was on it, so I knew what to expect: "at least 5 baby's, 2 lines that explain how fresh/fly/good/crazy Dwayne Carter is. This song contains a pretty good beat, some new Kanye lyrics, and some of Wayne's best boasts.
8. Drunk and Hot Girls- wow, talk about garbage, here's Kanye trying to please two of his fanbases and pissing both of them off. Please tell me Kanye who did you think was going to enjoy this song. Horrible beat, worst hook I've ever heard, and atrocious lyrics. Where Mos Def comes in, I don't know. I've almost had enough. I'm only listening for the Primo track now.
9. Flashing Lights- Good beat, good hook, good lyrics. It can't be, just as I was about to dismiss Kanye, he actually makes a good song. Once again, Kanye's lyrics are about his exploits with the ladies, yet he again throws in some metaphors and a reference to Katrina. This song is alright, not great, but alright. Dwele's hook grows old once you've heard it 8 times throughout the song.
10. Everything I Am- I can't tell you how excited I was for this track, even after I heard the dissapointing first part of the album. The turntabling in the beginning is classic Primo, the R&B background is a little tiny bit annoying, but Kanye comes with some good lyrics. Not great lyrics, although he does still talk almost exclusively about himself and how crazy he is, this is my favorite song so far. It may even have replay potential.
11. The Glory- The one song I didn't hear anything about, but once it started playing, I loved it, his lyrics are on point!! Trust me, if your missing the old Kanye West, he got you right here, great lyrics, great hook, and the beat is vicious. This track has definite replay potential.
12. Homecoming- Kanye thinks that if he adds a carnival beat, and a coldplay vocal, and he'll fool his fans by inserting an old verse onto this track. I thought the point of an album was presenting your fans with some new music, maybe it's just me. Track's aight, nothing special. His lyrics are boring. I actually liked the old version
13. Big Brother- Here's the one other song i was looking forward to. The beat isn't anything special, ironically the one song Kanye didn't produce, but he actually tells a story with his words, this is definitely one of the tracks you'll enjoy if you like Kanye actually being lyrical. But just because he tells a stories with his words, doesen't mean that his lyrics are good though, they are only decent, and the hook is weak. There is also very little flow on this track. But if you've heard his previous albums, you'll enjoy this track.
14. Good Night- Here's a chill track. Again Kanye tells a story, over a great beat, this is the soul/jazz music that made him known as a producer. He tries to share his bullshit philosophies again, but their easy to get past. The person that rhymes later sounds like Tony Yayo, although I really hope it is not him. Overall a pretty good track, although you'll notice the reason it wasn't added to the album.
15. Bittersweet Poetry- Kanye's keeps up with his strictly woman orientated raps. This beat is chill again, with another pretty good hook. I actually prefer Kanye's rhymes on this track over many of the others on the album. Not a bad ending. Ironcally the person Kanye is rapping about in this song is the type of woman who probably would have loved this album.
I definitely wasn't pleased with this album after hearing Late Registration and The College Dropout. A brand new Kanye who geared his rhymes toward the mainstream public who will gobble up anything Mr. West throws at them. This is also the first album on which Jay-Z didn't appear, their was also very little hip-hop influence on this album besides Mos Def. Primo, Wayne and Dwele don't really count. If your looking for tracks to drive to like "Drive Slow", "Spaceship", or even "Get Em High" you will be dissapointed. I guess I'm in the minority who didn't like Kanye's new album. I can only hope he rethinks the new direction in which he seems to be heading. Dare I say, he may need another near-fatal accident to knock some sense into him. It's just my opinion, so take it for what it is.

What is there to say about Weezy that hasn't already been said? Personally, I don't hate Lil Wayne, there have always been people who make horrible music, Mr. Weezy is no exception. For the insane hype that Lil Wayne has attained, he rarely delivers, over 1,000 songs of practice, the best producers available, yet he hasn't been able to produce good songs with any sort of consistency. There's no denying that Lil Wayne makes insane metaphors and has the best punchlines ever, but he raps over horrible beats, constantly raps with an awkward flow, and just ruins remixes. He may be the most creative artist the music industry will ever see, but sadly at his current rate, will never reach even 1/10th of his potential. His music affiliations are (at best) inadequate, B.G., Baby Boy, and all those other bitches who couldn't rap to save their lives. I'm a hater, your right. Lil Wayne is one of the few LYRICISTS I can stand from the south, Ludacris is the only other one who is even in the same genre as wayne. The Cunninlynguists are a great example of southern lyricists. DJ Khaled, and his whole clique of "We The Best" make the south look....real good. The first time I heard Wayne was "Go DJ" on MTV a few years ago, being new to hip-hop at the time, I solely acknowledged him as having a unique voice. After hearing "Hit Em Up", I really delved deeply into Weezy World, a.k.a. The New Orleans Nightmare series, The Dedication mixtapes, and The Drought mixtapes. I have more Lil Wayne in my collection than I would like, after deleting all the duplicate songs, I still have about 600 Weezy tracks, about 550 too much, as most of his stuff is straight garbage. I liked the I Can't Feel My Face mixtape with Juelz, but that's what happens when someone actually pushes Weezy into working semi-hard. All that Weezy made me extremely cautious to being even a little bit excited for The Carter III, I got it the day it leaked, heard snippets of all the songs, and got exactly what I expected, a downright horrible album. All the young Wayne fans will tell you that this is another classic, but Wayne fans might belong in insane asylums more than insane people, actually Wayne fans probably are already in insane asylums. I recall going to an electronics store to buy something, I forgot what, and saw people actually buying albums... a rare sight, but I guess when you have a super established multimillionare artist like Lil Wayne, we have to support him. These are the same people who believe Soulja Boy is real hip-hop. Like Big Soulja Daddy Kane Boy. Enough of me talking, sorry the intro is kind of long. One more thing to add about Weezy's intelligence, I don't know what this dumbfuck thought he was doing calling out mixtape DJ's who have literally made his underground career, which led to his mainstream career, a few days before his album was due to come out. Fuck you DJ Chuck T, who has my whole album, I wonder what your going to do with it. Enough
1. 3 Peat- Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm just guessing Lil Wayne had just enough smarts to put one of his better tracks in the beginning so people will actually listen to it. The start is pretty good, then it worsens, and then Wayne gets lazy and decides to do a hook/verse. I give him props for no intro though. Beat's not bad for this track.
2. Mr. Carter- I was actually surprised that Jay was going to be on this album...no wait I wasn't...considering how much of a publicity slut Hov has become. Wayne gives a decent performance, I didn't like the season metaphors at all, but the rest of his lines are halfway decent. Jay's lines are exactly what you would expect, think Kingdom Come. What really disturbed me about this track is this gem: "Next time you mention Pac, Biggie, or Jay-Z, don't forget Weezy B". A slap to the face of Sean Carter, maybe the motivation he needs to either retire or return to "Reasonable Doubt" form.
3. A Millie- Seems like I've heard this before, wait..., I may have heard this a few..... thousand times. Annoying beat, conceited lyrics, wait tell the coppers what? ghahaha. Again he compares himself to Jay, Pac, and Biggie. Maybe he's not so creative, or maybe he just wanted to slap Jay twice for safe measure. You decide. I can't stand the end. I'll explain it to you Weezy, you want to have different rhymes, but the same flow, not the other way around.
4. Got Money- Play N Skillz' beat sounds like a DJ Khaled reject, which is saying something. Even though you've never heard this song before, you've heard this song before. Trust me, waste of time.
5. Comfortable- a decent Kanye beat that Weezy ruins, can't say I listened long enough to hear Babyface but I can guess that he would have put me to sleep.
6. Dr. Carter- Wayne does it again, a skit combined with a song, pure genius, his horrible lyrics and nearly acapella beat makes this the most creative song I've ever heard. He in no way ties the skit together with his lines but when your weezy you can do anything. The nurse in this song says something, and Wayne takes the last word out of her mouth and freestyles around it, and his freestyle for all 3 verses is nearly intolerable. I want a shirt that says "I listened to Dr. Carter......and survived". it's that bad
7. Phone Home- Cool&Dre win the award for the worst beat ever created, the vocal is just a bit worse than listening to people scratching their fingernails against a chalkboard. "I'm an elian like Gonzalez", saves this song from being the worst with that line. Not a song I would ever recommend.
8. Tie my Hands- Although Weezy only starts rhyming after a minute of soft piano, the beat is actually okay, and Weezy has some good lines, which salvages his 3 track losing streak. The hook is pretty pathetic, but still a million times better than the above track.
9. Mrs Officer- almost comparable to Guru and Biggie's storytelling...really?... no, not even close, this is just straight pathetic. Pretty good impersonation of sirens though...really? no, not really.
10. Let The Beat Build- I can recommend this song. It's actually not bad, the first song that may really be catchy. The beat is quality, the vocal sample fits pretty well (not perfectly). Probably the best off the album
11. Shoot Me Down- Just about the same thing as the track above, slow chill beat, decent lyrics, and a slow hook. Honestly almost the same track than the one above. Everyone on Weezy's dick because "I sweat money and the bank is my shower", it's a pretty good line, but it's really nothing special.
12. Lollipop- What is there to say about this song that you couldn't have already said yourself? That is besides appalling, awful, dreadful, fearful, frightful, ghastly, horrendous, horrible, shocking and OVERRATED. But that's probably why it's successful.
13. La La- A unique song but that doesen't make it very good, the lyrics are no good, the beat is pretty interesting, but all in all it's a pretty boring song. I forgot all about it already.
14. Playin With Fire- UGHHHHH...SHUDDER. His flow at the beginning is just downright horrible, clearly something the great Dwayne Carter thought was "cool", supposedly this song is supposed to have lots of sentimental value, because one of his parents died in a fire, but this song is kind of an insult to his parent's existence, but so is the rest of this album, and most of his rap career, so it's typical.
15. You Ain't Got Nothin- Fabolous starts this track off with straight fire, great metaphors, great lines like always, I've always liked fab. Juelz adds a decent yet mediocre verse, and Lil Wayne closes with a downright horrible verse. Flow is bad, and even the lyrics are bad, you can always just skip after the first 2 verses. Kind of pathetic that Weezy gets shown up on his own album, by two rappers, when he's the "Best Rapper Alive", if he's the best that shouldn't ever happen should it?
16. DontGEtIT- hahaha. If you like train wrecks, you'll enjoy listening to this whole song. A good vocal sample, good beat, good lines. Instead of calling it a song, Weezy decides to talk, and makes a total and complete dumbass of himself. At first he doesen't understand why the police patrol the suburbs instead of the hood. And then he answers his own question. Then he chokes on some good weed, tells us about the plight of crack dealers in this country. Goes off on Al Sharpton, adds in a "no homo", because he's no homo, and then he tells us about good/proper humanity, creates the word informate, and ends with the classic "you don't know me". And ends by dissing a reverend, with a classic diss "Your no MLK, your no Jesse Jackson, your like Don King with a perm". Nice, Weezy, I guess no one is safe from your genius satirical mind.
That'll be it for me, I don't have the special edition disc, and probably wouldn't have listened to the last two songs even if I did. This may be the worst album I've ever heard, but as they say "If Tha Carter III doesen't kill you, it only makes you stronger". But Weezy can do no wrong, when you insult a reverend for being a poor human, yet do enough Promythazine to fill a drug store, and smoke enough weed to cause global warming, and gain people's support, you may just be able to convince us that your God and Allah.
Ice Cube has supposedly sold out as of late, because of his role in PG movies, which I don't see as respectable. But if we all judged music by people's character, then 50 Cent wouldn't exist, Eazy E would never be a legend, and Common would take Nas's place as God's Son. Altogether I wondered what Cube's album would be about after seeing him in those Disney ass movies. I wasn't expecting "Kill at Will", "Death Certificate" or "The Predator" but I wasn't expecting a soundtrack to Are We Done Yet either. One more thing, I don't respect Cube trying to appease his gangsta rap fans with this album, after creating his Twinky soft films. But give this album a listen, if I can do it you can, you might even be surprised...
1. Definition of a West Coast 'G' (Intro)- Last word says it all, find a thesaurus and the word intro will say DELETE.
2. Why We Thugs- Scott Storch beat which is pretty fucking annoying, the chorus is real cute, his lines are alright, you can tell that he made this song for the mainstream (it was the single after all), and definitely holds back. Not a song that I like at all. Maybe even delete-able.
3. Smoke Some Weed- Exactly the opposite of what I'd want to hear when I'm smoking the producer (dudes named Bud'da). The beat is abrasive, but in a good way, another real cute chorus, again he holds back and makes this track for the mainstream. If you like this song, listen to it again, it may be aesthetically pleasing but then listen to the lyrics. At the same time, I'm not gonna delete it. Wait, the last verse is sick as fuck, I may have spoke to early.
4. Dimes & Nicks (A Call from Mike Epps)- 1st Mike Epps a bitch, and 2nd delete.
5. Child Support- This is a NIGGA WITTA ATTITUDE!! Ice Cube is back, Teak&Dre did a great job, definitely gonna keep an eye out for them. Finally a good chorus and Cube comes with some crazy lines, damn this song is delicious. It's a song you will have to repeat. "YOU WANT CHILD SUPPORT....GET IT OUTCHA ASS BITCH!!!" Classic Cube.
6. 2 Decades Ago (Insert)- Insert aka delete.
7. Doin What It Pose 2Do- Beat's simple, surprising since I typically enjoy Emile's typical productions. The chorus is repetitive, the turntabling is repetitive and not appropriate, Cube's lines are alright. This song is average, not great, not bad.
8. Laugh Now Cry Later- Can't say I love this beat, but Cube's lines are pretty good, the chorus is aight too. Another average track, you probably won't notice the song that it's been 3 minutes until you hear the next song.
9. Stop Snitchin- obviously a Swizz Beatz beat, beat's aight, chorus is aight, 2nd verse is sick as fuck, but otherwise another average track.
10. Go To Church- You've heard it, you loved it then you hated it, then you became indifferent about it. Snoop's lines are downright horrid, dumbass doesen't even try to flow to the beat. And there might not be anyone I hate more than Lil Jon, so needless to say I was bound to hate this song even before I heard it. Cube does aight with his lines, and I don't know why but I love the chorus, the beat is decent, so overall it's another average single.
11. The Nigga Trapp- First a bullshit minute long intro, then Green Lantern's shitty beat, but Cube rips this track up, his lines are immaculate, and the chorus is great. If you love Cube, you'll love this track, I'm looking for a better beat and a shorter track, but this is one of my favs off this album so far.
12. A History of Violence (Insert)- d-d-d-d-delete. I could be in G-Unit.
13. Growin Up- Now this tries to be a Nas-esque song where Cube raps about NWA. 1st that's not Cube's style, 2nd the beat doesen't fit (it isn't bad), last the chorus doesen't fit this track at all. After all those negatives, this track is great, another song that reminds me of the old Cube, it would be better with a jazzy beat, but again that's not Cube's style.
14. Click Clack Get Back- Emile did this track too. I like this song, definitely a west coast banger, that you can proudly blast in ya whip. Sadly even when Cube comes with crazy lines one after another you can't love this song. It's great, but it's not memorable.
15. The Game Lord- Teak&Dre give Cube another good beat, chorus is good, I don't really like the flow which in turn makes me hate the song. Average.
16. Chrome and Paint- the beat is amazingly boring. Cube comes with good lines, the WC lines are also pretty boring. This is one of the bottom tracks.
17. Scott Storch does a great job, Cube rhymes out of spite yet does a great job as well. Chorus is aight too, I don't dislike this song either even though it is a single. It's actually pretty good. Too poppy to be one of the best.
18. You Gotta Lotta That- UGH!! I fucking hate Lil Jon and Snoop Dogg. Snoop fucking ruins this song and Johnny does a horrid job on the beat. Even Cube sucks ass on this track. Not surprisingly it was a single.
19. Spittin Pollaseeds- amazing beat, I love the chorus, and more than anything the lines are awesome. Best track off the album PERIOD.
20. Holla @Cha Boy- obviously the best job that Lil Jon could do, Cube does a good job on this track, but again nothing special. The chorus is addictive, easily the best part of the track. One of the better tracks, but not amazing at all. A typical ending.
It's no Death Certificate by any means, but it's got a few tracks that any Cube fan could fall in love with. I'm waiting for Dr. Dre to do a Cube song, but it seems unlikely that will ever happen, sadly enough. This album is by no means amazing, it is by no means even classic Cube, but it reminds hip-hop fans what used to be and what might one day be. If anyone is gonna bring classic gangsta rap back it's gonna be Cube. Name one rap nigga that don't look up to him...any takers? Didn't think so, he needs to dissasociate himself from Snoop and Lil Jon because they are both just ankle weights (draggin him down). Needs to get NaS on some of his tracks, The Game, Dre, maybe even Kanye. I'd hate for Cube to throw his gift away because of money. It looks like he is on the right track now with "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It", which Juice from Black Wall Street (The Game's record label) has put on his album "Death Certificate". If nothing else Cube has influenced one of the most enjoyable new artists in the game and for that I say thank you. And no more Are We Done Yet's.....please....more tracks like Spittin Pollaseeds.

Since I've been waiting for L.A.X. to drop for about 2 months now and it keeps getting pushed back, I decided I would give a listen to Doctor's Advocate. This is truly what got me into The Game, The Documentary was a good album, by no means was it even comaparable to Doctor's Advocate, but it introduced me to Hurricane Game. Needless to say, The Game has definitely gone mainstream by ways of hits like "Let's Ride" and "Hate it or Love it", but at the same time has succeeded at appealing to the fans who appreciate his other work which is not as heralded. The thing I love about The Game is his knowledge of real rap (Ice Cube, NWA, NaS, Biggie), but it makes me sad how he releases mixtapes with Lil Wayne and features Snoop all the time. This is a dude who almost singlehandedly took down G-Unit. I think it's funny how Fat Joe, Killa Cam and Jadakiss only attack Curtis after The Game took down the hip-hop giant. Needless to say this guy doesen't love rap, he likes it, he knows it's history, but ultimately he only wants to make his money and be out. And honestly you can't blame him...look at Snoop, should have retired after Doggystyle. The Game may just be the most arrogant and stubborn motherfucker who ever held a mic in his hand (besides Andrew Dice Clay, but that's completely off topic), but that's why people love him. He's got brains, and I would definitely recommend checking out Black Wall Street, Juice, Clyde Carson, Ya Boy, and JT Tha Bigga Figga are all rappers that are getting buzz and deservedly so...none of them compare to Game, but Juice has got the potential to be something amazing. Quote me on that....and IF YOU WANT CHILD SUPPORT GET IT OUTCHA ASS BITCH!
1. Lookin At You- Definitely a Don King track... not in the sense of putting one of the best tracks at the beginning, but building yourself up to be someone real fucking special. It's definitely an average track. 1st verse blows ass, but the 2nd verse is ill. I can't stand when he mentions the California weed...sounds like a fuckhead... but then again he has a song in place of an intro so I give him props for that.
2. Da Shit- Anyone whose rap name is DJ Kha____.... can scientifically be proven to never produce a good track. The song starts 1:20 in, the beat bangs, and Game says absolutely nothing of value but sounds good doing it. If you like Snoop, you'll love this song, if you liked "Dreams" you'll appreciate this song, but want for something just a bit more heartfelt.
3. One Blood- If you haven't heard it yet...enjoy. That's all I can say, it is nearly immaculate. Oh and keep one eye open for Reefa the producer.
4. Compton- Gotta say this track had definite skip potential when I saw the producer...a not so respectable will.i.am. The first time you hear it you'll be amazed, then when you repeat it you'll see it doesen't hold up... and you might be superhuman if you can listen to this track 3 times and not be bored out of your mind. Figures William produced this track. This line salvages the song: "Fuck all rappers, look at all the hate I see/ I'm sick you can't get rid of me/ I'm HIV.
5. Remedy- as simple as the beat is I think Just Blaze did a great job, the chorus is amazing, I love Blaze when he turntables. Game's lines are pretty good too. This is one of the stand out tracks so far.
6. Let's Ride- I don't care what anyone says about this song. The beat is straight great. The first Scott Storch beat that I've genuinely loved. Game's lines suck ass, but the beat is just so amazing that I can actually love this song. Yeah, try and get the instrumental cuz Game's lines are that bad. The chorus...weak.
7. Too Much- huh. another great Storch beat, I love how he makes his beats so simple on these last two tracks and the piano also works. I don't exactly love the Nate Dogg chorus, but it's a lot better than last track's chorus. The lyrics are definitely better but not as good as One Blood or Remedy.
8. Wouldn't Get Far- Kanye creates a fucking sick beat, and the two make a great song to sing along to. By no means is it a great song though, it's catchy, but again I'm looking for some more emotion and genuine feelings rather than club bangers.
9. Scream On Em- Swizz Beatz at his best, Game creates fight music. One of the better tracks so far, and for some reason I like the obnoxious yell/ chorus. Game finally comes with some good lines.
10. One Night- I can't say I love the beat, but the raw emotion and story telling makes this my favorite song off the album...by leaps and bounds. This track is evidence that hip-hop isn't dead. Just a warning the chorus is abrasive.
11. Doctor's Advocate- At first I was surprised that this song wasn't 1st, but then I checked his Aftermath beef timeline. Definitely a contradictive song, but it is great. Game spits straight fire, and I actually like Busta's lines on this track. Definitely gives you insight about Game and Dre's relationship. 2 in a row, dare i say 3?
12. Ol English- Game and Hi-Tek? Nah right....but this track is also nearly immaculate. Hi-Tek does an amazing job, Game really tells a story in his own unique narrative. This song is simply amazing, I've heard it at least 40 times to this day and I never tire of it. A modern classic...I promise.
13. California Vacation- I can imagine that this track was on replay at west coast radio stations for a loooong time. The beat bangs, Game murders it, Snoop almost ruins it, but Xzibit brings it back, and maybe even outrhymes Game. Too bad X is at the end, but this track is hot. Not much more than a banger tho...
14. Bang- I like the beat, another banger. A great song, but nothing of substance again.
15. Around The World- Fuck Jamie Foxx, stick to acting, I'm sick of this fuckhead thinking he can sing and ruining good shit. Game has good lines, pretty good song. Can't say I loved this track, not a song I'm gonna repeat, but it's alright.
16. Why You Hate The Game- Whoa...all I can say, Game decides to make an album full of bangers and then features NaS on the very last track. Blaze's beat is sick, Escobar's lines are fucking ill, and Game straight murders shit. Love this track. "I don't talk about my guns nigga I just blaze". I guess it's smart to put this track at the end to tempt hip-hop fans with what could one day be.
This album is exactly what I thought it would be, 10 or more club bangers, and a few songs for the hip-hop heads. Game doesen't dissapoint at all, probably making an album even better than The Documentary. I'm dissapointed that he doesen't make tracks like "One Night", "Ol English" or "Why You Hate The Game" throughout the album. After hearing this album, there are probably 5 or 6 tracks I would keep, the rest I doubt I would listen to again....but maybe it's just me. Maybe after hearing this album for the 10th time I now realize why I was so excited for L.A.X. to drop, because of The Game's immense potential and his well-earned reputation as the great lyricist of his generation. The one thing I don't like about The Game is his ignorance in beefing anyone he wants. This guy is the Tiffany Pollard of rap...but you gotta have love for him. Please go out and support my man. Don't let him make a bad decision and retire, if you like what you hear here (nice huh?), check out his underground shit, I've got at least 400 of his other songs (probably 1,000 with duplicates), and it's just as good if not better as the music he releases, so keep one eye open for that. I'm gonna end the review just like Game ends his album... One love.

Now I've been keeping up with Lupe Fiasco for a long time, even before Food & Liquor. He is of course a very special talent...yet the mainstream has just begun to accept and embrace him. Now Food & Liquor was a great album, and definitely set him up with fans interested if Lupe could make another go-round at it. Personally, I felt Food & Liquor wasn't Lupe's "debut"...it was more like his mainstream coming-out party. If you were even somewhat of a hip-hop fan in 2005 you knew about this cat, in fact he's been making music for almost 6 or 7 years now. Of course Lupe is signed to the only record label whose mainstream music can be taken halfway seriously....Roc A Fella. The thing I love about Lupe is how he never fully embraces anything but F&F (First and Fifteenth Street in Chicago)....he has no ROC shoutouts like Kanye or Jigga, and makes his music without notable producers. That being said, Soundtrakk produced almost all of the stand-out tracks on "Food & Liquor" : "Kick, Push", "He Say She Say", "Sunshine", and the amazing "The Emperor's Soundtrack". These songs were probably my favorite 4 tracks off the album, so I was very pleased when I found out that Soundtrakk would produce the majority of the album. And I was simply hoping for an album that would measure up to the hype that Lupe was getting from the underground community. The one thing I don't like about Lupe is the concept album, which "The Cool" is...I've never seen a succesful or interesting concept album. It's often confusing because concentrating on hidden messages or lyrics with multiple interpretations can really ruin an album. Needless to say...it isn't a big concern...now to enjoy this album. Wait...one more thing....I was surprised to see a Parental Advisory sticker on this album...props for whoever can find the explicit content on this track.
1. Baba Says Cool for Thought- delete.
2. Free Chilly-this is a interlude/song.... I can't say I love the beat... but the lines are pretty good and it's a pretty good overall welcome.
3. Go-Go Gadget Flow- Once again I can't say I love this song...the chorus is irritating.. the beat is a bit annoying... and Lupe makes sure you know that Chicago is the best city in the world. The lines aren't all that good again...this song is very average.
4. The Coolest- The flow on this song pisses me off...the beat is lacking again...and his lines are really weak at times. Overall another average track. I do love the chorus though.
5. Superstar- This song was definitely overhyped, but once you hear it, it definitely delivers...Soundtrakk does a great job on this track... I was beginning to doubt him... Lupe also delivers, his lines are great on this track. Definitely the best so far.
6. Paris, Tokyo- I love/adore the vibe given by Soundtrakk's masterful beat. The chorus is amazing... but Lupe's flow doesen't fit at all...and his lines don't fit either. I really wish he had gone on a different direction on this track. This track had a lot of potential.
7. Hi Definition- Damn Lupe...Snoop = track ruiner. Lupe's lines are amazing, the beat is sick... the chorus is great too. Snoop thankfully only ruins the end of the song. This is one of my favorites so far.
8. Gold Watch- If the point of a song is to create ambient noise that totally distracts the listener from hearing the lines....this song passes with flying colors. It's not a bad song...decent beat... but I could not listen to this song because I was trying to uncover the hidden meaning of this song.
9. Hip Hop Saved My Life- Once you hear it you will fall in love with it. Perfect beat, perfect lines. Best so far. Instant replay.
10. Intruder Alert- Another great song. A very chill beat, and Lupe's storytelling takes you to a different place...amazing in a different breadth than the previous track.
11. Streets on Fire- How? Lupe makes 2 songs in a row that are truly breath taking...and then he makes this shit...his flow is beyond awkward.... I think Weezy usually flows better than this...and the chorus is horrible. Ughhh. You won't even notice the amazing lines.
12. Little Weapon- The beat is perfect for the song...and Lupe takes this song to a new level... clearly the best so far off the album....simply amazing. Listen to the lines.......wow. Bishop G almost outshines Lupe on this track...which is definitely saying something. Simply amazing.
13. Gotta Eat- This song is ok. The beat is good, the lines are good, everything is good... but you expect more after the above track...but this song is still very good.
14. Dumb it Down- Soundtrakk gives Lupe a simple beat...and Lupe shows the world what lyricism is. His lines remind me of his lines in "Daydreamin" with his metaphors. Simply put, this song is mind altering. I never thought it was possible to be this lyrical. He takes hip-hop to a new level. It's that good....although I don't care much for the chorus.
15. Hello/Goodbye (Uncool)- A dumb punk rock/hip-hop song that I can't listen to. I'd skip this if I were you.
16. The Die- This is clearly a song that Lupe felt he needed for this to really be a concept album...but it is a good song...both Lupe and Gemstones ( a rapper from 1st & Fifteenth) come with a super fast flow... twista esque. This is a great track.
17. Put You On The Game- Wow this is a song comaprable to "Dumb It Down".... listen to this track and simply marvel at Lupe's lyricism. The beat also works great.
18. Fighters- I love the chill aspect of this song...this is a great track not in the sense of the previous track, but more in the sense of the song "He say She Say" off his last album. Still a very good song. Combo with the singer that's also on "Superstar".
19. Go Baby- This song is mad corny...but 2 minutes after the song starts ( when it really starts) you will find some good lines. A pretty average track.
I don't have the bonus track "Blackout" although I have heard it and it's nothing special. Overall this is a great album...there are about 6 great tracks. And the songs "Put You On The Game" "Dumb It Down" and "Little Weapon" are simply amazing. I can't say I love this album as much as I do his debut, but it is still a memorable album. The lyricism and special ability of Lupe Fiasco is very much present on this album, and I believe creates insane anticipation for Lupe's supposed final album LupEND. If you liked his first album (which I will review soon)... you will find lots of similarities but an even greater number of differences. Lupe distances himself from Kick, Push the song that made him mainstream, and pushes his audience to a lyrical level few artists can. And I for one greatly appreciate it. F&F up.
