The Dreams Nightclub Turns Into A Nightmare As A Shooting Takes Place Inside

Jermaine Dupri was continuing his take over of the Atlanta with his SoSoDef Summerfest. The welcome to Atlanta party had J.D., Diddy, Usher, Nelly, Bow Wow, Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, Larenz Tate, Da Brat, Lisa Raye, several NBA players and more in the building. Everything was going great until shots went off inside the club.

According to law enforcement sources, things got violent when club patrons heard private security hired to work inside the club were double charging people to get into the VIP area — where stars like Usher, Diddy and Nelly were partying.

Cops say pushing and shoving broke out, and as the masses were being thrown outside, that’s when a shot rang out. A security guard was treated for a shot in the arm, but has already been released from the hospital.

Being from California himself, it would be obvious that Spice 1 was on Ice-T’s side in the war of words with Soulja Boy [click to read]. Talking to PushinTheBayTV, Spice had some words of his own in the dawn of the feud.

Amazed by the change that has taken place since he came out the gates in 1991, Spice explained the way in which the streets would handle a verbal bashing like that of Soulja Boy’s. “We are in 2008 man, that’s all I know. When I think like that I’m like damn we are really in the fuckin’ future. This nigga’s got balls to say something to Ice…nigga’s will look for you and hunt your ass down and take your head off partner. They will cut your balls off and hand them to your little young ass.”

Belittling his name, Spice 1 ridiculed Soulja Boy on his attempt to be something he isn’t. “You think you a soldier, boy? You’re not a soldier, you a boy, nigga. I respect what you doing cause you dancing for the kids, but don’t try to take it there with these G’s out here in Cali, nigga.”

Spice 1 ended his statement with words of caution, hoping to get through to Soulja Boy. “I don’t know who listens to Spice 1. Soulja Boy could be a fan, I don’t know. But as far as you going against Ice-T, let that shit go.”

After Jesse Jackson was caught on tape saying he wanted to cut Barack Obama’s nuts off, the reverend was criticized by everyone from Spike Lee to Nas.

Now, Jackson is finding an ally in one of his sharpest critics: David Banner.

“My feelings about [Jackson] as a person won’t change until he changes and who knows if that’ll happen,” Banner said during an interview with EUR Web, “but we should move on and not worry about his comments. We concentrate on such trivial things that are not even important. We’re at war. We’re in a recession. Jesse Jackson said something. He doesn’t literally want to cut off [Obama’s] nuts. He didn’t know the mic was on. Ok, let’s stay focused. I can honestly say that white media does that to us and we bite the hook every time.”

Despite the defense of the oft controversial Jackson, Banner also offered another bit of criticism.

“To me, Jesse Jackson is irrelevant. Nobody in our generation really pays attention to him. As far as we’re concerned, he should be able to say whatever he wants to and we just move on.”

While many MCs have been derided for criticizing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, Banner was careful to articulate his contempt for both—making his points, though profane at times, hard to rebut.

“Young people see through all that,” he said of many older civil rights activists. “Jesse Jackson and all these people come up with all these good ideologies about what we should do as black people, but y’all have had 40 years to implement it and y’all didn’t do nothing. If anything – you’re adding to it. We’re not going to go into the dude’s personal life, but me and you could pick several examples of that.”

At the end of the day, for Banner, it’s still about the almighty dollar.

“I don’t want to be a full-time activist. I want to be filthy rich,” he said. “I don’t want to stand up on a soap box. People don’t listen to that. People listen when you’re rich and powerful and famous. If you want me to be a leader, then let me lead yo’ ass to the record store and buy ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told.’”

“As we were coming down from the airport trailing behind the vehicles we see the white car that Trina and Kenyon Martin were travelling in was cutting across and the same time a green van came and they hit each other and they went straight across and one of the children nearly came out of the vehicle because of the impact,” Raymond Martin, a witness to the accident said. “It was very very hard and horrifying and hmmm, I still left stunned right now.”

The driver of the Excursion, JA Jex, suffered minor injuries.

George Abraham, the driver of the green minivan was shocked and angered after the accident took place. His eldest child, Delane had to be carried away on a stretcher. Abraham’s other son, was also hurt.

“I was on my right hand side and this vehicle overtake on this side. That guy was in the wrong in that vehicle. I was on my correct hand. Ahh my shoulder,” Abraham told News 7.

Trina and Martin left in another vehicle and were not hurt in the accident. The pair is in Belize for the weekend attending a Hip Hop peace rally and celebrity basketball game.
